Common questions

My dongle is not in the list

It must be Bluetooth LE (4.0 or newer) or Wi-Fi. Plug it in, switch the car fully on, and search again. A Wi-Fi dongle has to be joined in the iPhone's Wi-Fi settings first.

It connects but shows dashes

Check the right car is chosen in the Vehicles tab. If it is, run Quick scan in Setup and send the result from Help: that is how a car gets fixed or added.

A number looks wrong

Tell us what the app shows and what the car's own display shows at the same moment. That pair is usually enough for us to correct it.

Nothing on the Lock Screen or CarPlay

Turn on "Show on Lock Screen and CarPlay" in Setup, and allow Live Activities for EVgauge in the iPhone's Settings. The panel only updates while the app is connected to the car. On CarPlay it appears on the Dashboard view, not as an app icon.

Does it change anything on my car?

No. EVgauge only reads. It never writes to the car, clears faults or changes a setting.

Which dongle should I buy?

Any ELM327-compatible dongle that is Bluetooth LE or Wi-Fi. Bluetooth is easier day to day, and a Wi-Fi dongle can clash with wireless CarPlay.
